my lawn looking kinda wild right now. Got some crabgrass taking over, and I need to shut it down ASAP. What youall using to kill it off? Seen some sprays at the store, but I don’t wanna waste money on weak stuff. Should I spot spray or hit the whole yard? Also, I’ve never used pre-emergent before, but I heard it helps stop this mess from coming back. Is it worth it? Trying to get this lawn looking fresh before summer.

I’ve used Quinclorac before, and it worked pretty well. You thinking of just spot treating, or is it all over? And yeah, pre-emergent is a game changer, stops that stuff before it even pops up. You ever tried it before?

For crabgrass, most people use a post-emergent spray (like a crabgrass killer with quinclorac) and spot spray the bad patches first - cheaper and safer than blanket spraying everything.

Pre-emergent is absolutely worth it if you want to stop it from coming back next year - apply it in early spring before it sprouts.

Spot treat now, get rid of what's already there, then use pre-emergent later to keep it from returning.

crabgrass can get out of control pretty fast once it starts. If its only in patches, Id just spot spray it with a crabgrass killer rather than spraying the whole yard. Something with quinclorac usually works pretty well for existing crabgrass.

pre-emergent is definitely worth it, but its more for preventing it next season, not killing whats already there. Most people put it down in early spring before soil temps warm up so the crabgrass seeds cant germinate.

for now Id knock down whats there with a post-emergent, keep mowing regularly, and try to thicken the lawn. A thicker lawn makes it harder for crabgrass to come back.

Just wondering, if I use a post-emergent now, do I have to wait to put down pre-emergent next spring, or can I do both around the same time?
